[Question] Does Hunger of Hadar blind creatures regardless of devil's sight?
Hunger of Hadar description:
"You open a gateway to the Far Realm, a region infested with unspeakable horrors. A 20-foot-radius Sphere of Darkness appears, centered on a point within range and lasting for the duration. The Sphere is Difficult Terrain, and it is filled with strange whispers and slurping noises, which can be heard up to 30 feet away. No light, magical or otherwise, can illuminate the area, and creatures fully within it have the Blinded condition."
So recently I had a disagreement with with my table over this. I argued that HoH would blind anything that could be blinded, regardless of whether they could see through magical darkness or not, since the wording of the spell explicitly separates the blindness condition from the darkness of the sphere, just stating "creatures fully within it have the blinded condition." It would also be redundant to state that creatures within the sphere are blinded if it was only referring to the darkness portion of the spell, as darkness already applies the blinded condition. They argued that the blindness did originate from the fact that HoH was a sphere of darkness. Which interpretation do you think is more correct?
