I am at the end of my rope ya’ll. My beloved cat Large Marge will not stop peeing on everything I own.

Marge is at least 15 years old (unclear beyond that, the humane society told me she was 13 when I got her in 2013, but that seems suspicious at this point.) She’s bonded very specifically to me, and follows me around constantly, screams to get in my lap, cuddles me all the time, needs my attention. I work from home, so this is largely okay.

What is not okay, is that she pees on everything I own, constantly, and has done so for years. Sometimes we go through periods where it’s worse, but we never go for a month or so without an incident. It’s everything from clothes that get left on the floor to couches, armchairs, bath mats, and often my bed - often when I am asleep in it. She has completely destroyed pieces of furniture beyond repair. For a few years, I tried locking her out of my bedroom but she just screamed so much and was in such obvious distress that I caved. She’s so old that I feel terrible at the thought of her being distressed for the last few years of her life.

I have tried everything - she’s been to the vet for this issue easily a dozen times. She’s had every test run, and they say it’s essentially inflammation of the bladder from stress. This cat could not have a less stressful life. I play with her everyday, she has all sorts of perches and places to sleep. I have her on a prescription food that is supposed to lower inflammation. She gets churrus and special treats everyday. She’s on a calming probiotic. She’s on an antidepressant for stress and anxiety, and we even switched it to a topical ear cream because she was so hysterical every time we tried to give her a pill. Our house is on a relatively set schedule. She gets her food on demand and has a nice stainless steel water fountain. Her litter box stays clean, and is in a nice quiet corner of the house, and in a private hideaway bench. We’ve tried all kinds of litter boxes, including a hugely expensive litter robot.

I am firmly committed to keeping Marge for the rest of her life and would never ever dream of surrendering her to a pound. That said, I am on the verge of hysterics myself with this constant peeing. Does anyone have any suggestions, or things I haven’t thought of?
