Never used a proper mousepad before, should I get an Artisan or a glass pad?
I’ve never actually used a proper mousepad especially a high-end one before and I’m really unsure what to choose between an Artisan cloth pad or a glass pad.
One thing I really don’t like about cloth pads is the idea of them wearing down over time and developing slow spots. Spending a lot of money on a pad just to replace it every 1–2 years sounds like a waste to me.
Because of that, glass pads seem really appealing since they last much longer and stay more consistent. But at the same time I’m kinda worried about the lack of stopping power and control people talk about with glass. I mostly play FPS games like rainbow six siege and I’m not sure if going straight from a random cheap pad not even meant for gaming to glass would be a terrible idea.
I’ve done a decent amount of research already, but the more I read the more undecided I get. Some people say glass is amazing and they can never go back, others say it’s too hard to control and only good for tracking-heavy games.
Another problem is availability. I’m in Poland and it’s pretty hard to get some of these pads here without massively overpaying for shipping/imports, especially Artisan. So if I buy one, I really want to make the right choice the first time.
Would you guys recommend starting with an Artisan pad first, or just going straight to glass? Or maybe something completely different ? Please give me some advice cause I am unsure on what to do.
And if Artisan, which one would make the most sense for someone completely new to premium mousepads?
