Hi everyone! I’m seeking advice for how to stop this situation. I have a client who I see about every 4 weeks for an appointment. In between the appointment though, she texts me pretty much every week asking “if I’m in the shop” because she wants to pop in for me to look at her hair, cut one side a little bit more, ask a question, etc.

She does this with everyone in her life, from doctors to tattoo artists, so it’s not just me and she is respectful when asking. But I don’t work like this, and it stresses me out. She definitely ends up receiving free services from me, even if I’m just trimming one piece of her hair.

I tend to be a people pleaser, but I know I need to nip this in the bud once and for all. I’ve tried to lightly push back recently and say “I’d love to set you an appointment so we have a set time together” but that hasn’t helped & doesn’t remove the fact that I’d be holding an appointment for her for no service/no money. I also know that I need to just charge her for every little thing now. I plan to text/speak to her about this, but not sure how I should go about it.

I’ve been a stylist for 10 years, and have never experienced this on this level. Since Covid, clients have been able to text my personal phone - and that’s another problem I’m trying to manage now as it’s interfering with my emotions when I’m out of the salon.

Thank you all for reading my novel. lol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. ❤️❤️❤️
