What can I do about it? I put on wide trucks, but seems like my kingpin is a bit longer, so I can’t grind on them

I’m new to ballroom dance and I just had my very first pair of Latin shoes. I feel SUPER comfortable in them, and consultant at the local store said that they fit me perfect… but now I’m not sure about it, since when I point my foot I have A LOT of space. Is that a normal thing? I came from ballet and I don’t know much about this stuff, excuse me if my question is dumb😭
