Does auditioning in the summer during the 5 week aspire program give you a higher chance of getting accepted? And if you dont get in can they defer you to regular decision or will it be a for sure acceptance/rejection in October
Im wondering what they are looking for in admissions when it comes to the prepared piece , I like playing a lot of different genres mostly classic rock stuff and jazz. I have some songs I like to play and arent super easy skill wise but I don't feel like any of them are particularly impressive or show what I can do if that makes sense. Like what level of difficulty is expected of your prepared piece? Also a lot of the songs Ive looked at have some very cool parts and then the lead guitar is like silent for 30 seconds, hard to find smthn thats long enough.
Currently I have a squier strat, ive been playing for a few years now and its served me well but Im tryna upgrade. I want something with a humbucker fs or something that takes distortion better, the squier has quite a nice clean tone but it doesnt sound great with distortion at least to me.
I'm a rising senior, do I apply at the normal time like with all other schools? Do you reserve audition slots when you apply are they first come first serve is ig what im asking, ideally id be doing one in Boston. I tried starting an application but obv i don't have my rec letters or anything ready so I was just confused I guess what the timeline is for everything, I'm not sure how music schools work since there's an in person aspect
