Sad state of the Mangrove Park
Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the Environmental Fee we pay at the jetty port also go toward the cleanup and rehabilitation of different places in Boracay?
Our family recently went to the island and decided to do the Land Tour. One of our stops was the Mangrove Park. I was really looking forward to it since I've heard so much about the "green side" of Boracay and how these mangroves are protected.
Honestly, it was heartbreaking. Normally you wouldn’t expect it to be this dirty, especially given how many thousands of visitors enter the island daily. With the majority of us paying those fees, it’s just sad to see trash accumulating in a protected sanctuary like this.
Is it a management issue, or is the trash just washing in from the sea faster than they can clean it? Either way, for a "rehabilitated" island, seeing plastic stuck in the roots of these trees feels like a step backward.
Has anyone else noticed this lately? Or are there specific parts of the island where the fees are actually visible?
