Newly-licensed HAM going into QRP first. What should I expect ?

Hi !

I'd like to get some feedback on my plans to go into QRP directly after I get licensed in a few weeks (if everything goes right)

I live in France, in a flat on the second floor, in a busy urban area. Getting an antenna working may be impossible due to this (even if legally OK), which is why I plan on operating when I go hiking with friends.

I'm currently considering buying a QRPLabs QMX+, as budget is a bit tight and I can solder. No ideas on antennas yet.

The idea is to start with voice on SSB until I get good enough at CW to use it for transmissions.

I read a lot of people saying that SSB & QRP was basically a nightmare for new operators, which is making me a bit nervous - I'm ok with it being difficult, but near impossible might make me quit 😄 I found people on youtube doing SOTA in the USE with the QMX, but no idea how possible it is here.

That's it - if you have any feedback or any idea on how I could do things differents I'd love to hear from your experience !
