My partner and I are counting down to his surgery date and trying to prepare. The surgeon's instructions mention being on crutches post-surgery, but an occupational therapist we met with said she recommends using a cane rather than crutches.

We're particularly concerned about this because our house has stairs. The OT said we should get some better railings installed and plan for using a cane and the railings when going up and down stairs.

Anyone have experience or thoughts about this? Thanks in advance!
