I’ve got a BIOSTAR A68N-5545 (AMD A8-5545M APU) mini-ITX PC. I set it up with Batocera and the batocera-crt-script. My primary goal is to play (PAL) C64, NES, SNES, Megadrive/Genesis and some old DOS games on it.

Apparently it can output a low-res 15 kHz signal over VGA. (According to the SSH welcome message it is set to 321x240@49.98Hz)

Plan is to hook it up to a Funai TV-2000T MK5 using a VGA-to-SCART cable, but I don’t have the cable yet.

While I’m waiting, I started thinking 😄 When I was a kid I used to play on an old Hungarian Orion Vénusz CTV 256/K SPOC TV ([https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/orion\_venusz\_ctv256k.html\](https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/orion\_venusz\_ctv256k.html)) with a C64.

Now I’m wondering - if I managed to find one of these TVs in working condition - could I hook this Batocera setup up to it somehow?

As far as I know it only has RF input and a DIN port for VHS recorders, so I guess that’s basically composite (or something close to it?).

Are there any reliable cables or converters that can be used with this setup for VGA-to-RF or VGA-to-composite conversion without noticeable latency?

Picture quality isn’t super important here. The C64 over a makeshift coax cable wasn’t exactly a 4K HDR experience either 😄

Or I should stick with the Funai and SCART?
