Obviously the community of this game is great all around but there's something very specific I want to mention which just hit me a couple of minutes ago.
The lack of toxicity regarding unpopular movies:
Like, we are all aware that the Hobbit-trilogy and the War of the Rohirrim anime aren't nearly as well received as the original LOTR movies.
Some people really frikking hate these movies. But if I show up with an army from any of these, nobody would start an annoying rant.
Compare this to Star Wars Legion. Just talking about the possibility of sequel trilogy miniatures will have people throwing tantrums. So I can't imagine what would happen if they ever do release sequel stuff and someone shows up with a Resistance army led by Rey Skywalker. You could probably not enjoy the game because every two seconds someone will start complaining about the movies.
In MESBG, that happens rarely if at all. Hobbit and War of the Rohirrim armies will be accepted no matter what your opponent thinks of the movies because it's all about the game.
I'm pretty sure things would even be fine if the amazon show got merged into this game. Like...obviously not gonna happen because of rights but just as a thought experiment. If someone had a Numenor army based on the amazon prime design, I think it would be fine.
A lot of people are sceptical about the new Gollum movie but the mesbg community is just all about the new minis we might get (plastic Mirkwood elves please! And banners!)
When the anime came out, some people were critical of the designs and every couple of weeks you will find someone reiterate how much worse the movie-Radagast is compared to GW's own Interpretation from before Sylvester McCoy got teleported into a Brian Froud painting but that's it. It's almost always simply a mention of preference and no rant about how Peter Jackson assassinated the character everytime someone shows of their Radagast.
So wholesome. More nerd-communities should be like this. Keep it up, I love you guys
