Incoming TCD MSc student — Need accommodation before visa application | Tips on securing a place early?

Hey everyone,

I'm starting an MSc at Trinity College Dublin this September and I'm in the process of applying for my student visa. One of the requirements is proof of accommodation in Ireland before the visa can be processed.

The problem is — I've heard the Dublin rental market moves really fast and most places only become available 4–6 weeks before the move-in date, which puts me in a tough spot since I need something confirmed well in advance.

A few questions:

  1. Has anyone been in a similar situation (international student needing accommodation proof for visa)? How did you handle it?

  2. Are there any landlords or agencies in Dublin that are open to signing agreements months in advance?

  3. Would a TCD on-campus accommodation booking work as proof? Is it easy to get a spot?

Any other workarounds that visa offices tend to accept?

Any help would be really appreciated!

🏠 Looking for accommodation in Dublin — any leads welcome!

Hi everyone! Three of us — students at TCD and UCD — are looking for shared accommodation in Dublin, ideally in areas like Rathmines, Ranelagh, or Donnybrook (central to both campuses).

👥 Group: 3 students, responsible and respectful

If you know of any available rooms, flats, or house-shares, or know someone who does, please drop a comment or DM me. Any leads are hugely appreciated! 🙏
