Applying sand and organic matter? How exactly?

Zone 8b Pacific Northwest

Clay soil.

My yard is fine, but has a lot of poa trivialis. I'm fighting it using the guide. One of the suggestions is adding sand. I also want to add some organic matter to my soil. This is all a plan I'm developing for the Fall but maybe the sand and organic can be added now. I was going to have the lawn aerated. Then maybe rent a barrel to turn the sand and organic matter onto the lawn. Hoping the applied sand gets into the holes.

Any suggestions being this.

Lincoln City and South. Where is a good river if any to drift on a river with paddle boards or inner tubes down to the shore? This would be with kids 7 and 13. Advisable?

Sorry if this breaks a rule.

Some things I have learned.

  1. It's worth it, if you want chill, to go out to the coast on the 20.

  2. Bring baby powder (corn starch actually) to get the sand off.

What are some of your Oregon Beach must haves? I'm thinking of getting a wearable blanket with some wind break for when the weather turns? I've noticed that there are zones that people choose: Protected, mid-beach, and water? Why?
