So my 13 year old Lhasa Apso male, pooped and vomited blood earlier, this week (Sunday night), we took him to the hospital, where they admitted him, the consensus was a combination of medications caused some inflammation, but thankfully, he got released yesterday, I got the medication and he seemed super happy.
To my surprise, I woke up covered in poo, turns out that when he relaxes, he poops this Nutella-esque poo that smells seriously bad, I called the vet and they apologized for forgetting to warn me and told me it was expected.
I didn't get any diapers and it was 3 AM, so I improvised with a pee mat, cut a hole, taped it around his waist, and it looked solid, I then woke up around 5 am covered in poo again, because it overflowed out of the tail-hole. Another shower and washing of bed sheets later, I took him for a walk, see if he'd poo outside, he didn't, but we got some female diapers, I got one on him right now (for the last hour or so) and it seems to be holding up, but I'm afraid of letting him on the couch or bed again.
Does anyone have any advice they're willing to share on how to navigate this recovery period?
