For a bit of background, I’ve been in sales for the last 7-8 years. I started with a marketing group where we were those annoying guys in Sam’s Club trying to sell cell phones and internet services. I’ve briefly done life insurance sales and solar energy sales for about 2 years before transitioning into roofing. I started in roofing sales right after a major hurricane hit my area. It was great at first but now the market is saturated, and general roofing sales across the entire state has dropped significantly. The company I’m currently with is from out of town and isn’t in touch with my local market so there’s heavy competition with the local companies. It’s also extremely difficult to get into positions with the more local companies, they seem to never let any of their reps go (they must be doing well). So I’m now looking for different opportunities but mainly using indeed. In my experience, job listings on indeed tend to have a high turnover rate, especially within sales. There’s always some sort of downside to the position that isn’t mentioned before finding out for yourself. I thought roofing would be beneficial for a career/long term opportunity but it’s been extremely inconsistent as of lately. I’m currently 28 and looking for something long term and consistent. Any kind of advice would be appreciated, whether it’s specific fields/jobs to look for, or other platforms to get my resume on.
