Building a career as a Mortgage Broker

Hey guys. This for mortgage agents, brokers, that are new and seasoned to the industry.

This may not be the right place to ask this but Im a little lost and need some guidance.

I live in Ontario, Canada, and write my Level 1 Mortgage Agent quiz next week. Im acing my practice tests and am comfortable with the material and ready to build a business. I have talked to a few brokers and am always left discouraged… I am ambitious but also very practical. I know that this is not an easy job, not quick money. I love the grind and I am ready to build a brand for myself and take the time to create something great for everyone looking to finance a home. I dont want to be salesy, I want to be an advisor and help people achieve their dreams.

SO , I have a few questions.

  1. As a new agent, what were some of challenges you faced… and how did you overcome them?

  2. I talk to alot of Realtors, they are tired of hearing from Mortgage Agents… who should I be networking with?

  3. What brokerage do I go to. I want a mentor, but I want to be independent. I dont want to be going to these galas and events, I prefer tuning into seminars via zoom that give me the facts and allow me to work and learn. I want to learn, but I learn a specific way. I want to do the work, and have it double checked, and corrected if Im wrong. Theres so many options, and I dont care about splits or money off the bat, I want a good teacher.

Let me know if you have any insights.
