The reincarnation of Genghis Khan
I've posted about this before but my post didn't get any attention so I'm posting again, because İ really want other people's opinions on this, and there is literally not a single other discussion about this on the internet.
Awakening adds so much to Metro's lore, but unfortunately İ can't find any discussions about it, İ guess because VR is niche.
So as far as İ understand, the story is open ended, but there can be 3 takes:
Khan is a schizophrenic who thinks he's the reincarnation of Genghis Khan and thinks he can speak with the dead. İn 2033, artyom saw Khan communicating with the dead with his own eyes, but at this point artyom is young and inexperienced and so he's not a reliable narrator; explainable things might seem supernatural to him.
Khan is actually the reincarnation of Genghis Khan and can communicate with the dead, and even help them and free their souls. He has a mission as said by Yana, but we don't know what it is.
Khan is not literally the reincarnation of Genghis Khan; that's just the identity that he takes. However, he is chosen by the metro and can somehow communicate with the dead. We don't know why or how.
Do İ have it correct? are there any other possibilities? Which one of these do you hold to be true?
Any theories as to what his mission might be, and why the Metro chose him?
