Advice on how to proceed/get clearance to proceed because we have no clue how all this works:
My son was injured on the job last summer and had surgery in the fall. He is still continuing with PT for several more months.
The job was a short-term summer job, since he is a college student.
He would like to take an internship this summer at a different job that is more closely related to his major. The physical requirements for this job would be within the work parameters that his doctor has cleared him for.
Any claims for money/back pay/benefits from the previous job are not a huge concern.
He only wants to make sure he doesn't do anything that would jeopardize workers comp insurance from continuing to pay for his PT and medical care related to the injury, i.e. they might say he can work, so he doesn't need to continue PT, even though the work is completely different.
He would also like to work the new job, but only if it's not going to cause an issue.
Who does he talk to or clear this with to make sure this is ok?
