Me and my husband got an apartment with his best friend that he’s known since the 7th grade. My husband really wanted me ti stay home with our baby and the roommate was okay with that because we would still be paying a little over half the rent.
When we first moved in I was still like super pregnant and had less them a month til I was due but we were all excited. I stayed home cleaned everyday and cooked for them both everyday. I did this until I had the baby because I had an emergency c section it was hard for me to do literally anything.
My husband worked night shifts and our roommate worked day shifts. One day our roommate moved this girl in without even telling us she was coming (she lived 8 hrs away). We would not have minded if she moved in if he would’ve just talked to us but he didn’t. She lived there for 3 months and didn’t do anything but make dirty dishes and spend money. She refused to help clean or get a job. He ended up getting bored of her and they broke up.
I think she left at the beginning of December and by the end of the month he had a new girl. Again I don’t care what he does with his free time. Me and my husband both talked to him and said hey i don’t care who you have over or what you do but if you plan to move anyone in please talk to us. He said he didn’t mean to move the last girl in it was an accident.
I think some time before new years his new gf came over and then just never left. She was there for 2 months when my older brother needed some help. We let him stay on the couch for a few weeks until he got back on his feet. This made our roommate mad he said I couldn’t just have ppl in the house without talking to him (ironic isn’t it?). I guess his gf didn’t like my brother in not sure but she started going home most of the week.
My aunt invited me and my husband to the beach with her but my husband declined because that weekend he had already made plans to hangout with our roommate. That weekend he blew my husband off and stayed in his room with his gf. I could’ve been at the beach instead I was watching my husband get let down. Our roommate was always talking about how they don’t ever hang out like they aren’t even friends anymore but won’t leave his room to actually talk to my husband.
Our rent is 1500 plus the extra stuff for like trash pickup and the amenities plus the bills. Our roommate doesn’t even pay half of the base rent. I think the most he’s paid is half. He does pay the electric bill though. My husband asked for his half one day which was like 730 and our roommate says he pays entirely too much because altogether he almost pays 900 in rent and bills. My husband told him we are almost paying 1000 and can’t pay more. Our roommate has been short on rent a couple of times and he makes more than my husband and doesn’t have a wife or child.
I’ve stopped cooking for our roommate because he would keep dishes in his room until they grew mold then put them in the kitchen for me to wash. I don’t mind doing dishes because I am home all the time anyways but I don’t appreciate mold. Even while I was healing from my c section he didn’t clean. He didn’t do his laundry for a good 3 months. However now he is telling everyone that me and my husband are disgusting and keep the place trashed.
When we first move in we agreed because I was cooking for everyone that we’d go in 50/50 for the groceries. But then he said since he’s paying so much ($100) no one is allowed over and can eat the food except for us 3. Then he moved his gf in and she could eat. My husband started just buying the groceries because we have people over a lot and don’t mind sharing. So we are spending like 300+ on groceries every month. Now he is telling everyone that he was the one cooking and buying all the food and we just ate it all.
Like I said him and my husband were best friends. He was our child’s godfather but since she’s been born (7 months ago) he had seen her 3 times. And his room is right across from out and next to the living room.
He says we make him uncomfortable because during the day me and the baby sit in the living room. Also that we smell like pee. Me sitting in the living room is wearing out the couches so he doesn’t want to sit out there. We have a cat and a few weeks ago I had pneumonia so I forgot to clean the box and he peed on a play mat I had on the living room floor but as soon as I seen it I cleaned it. I make sure our house is clean I grew up in a nasty home I don’t want that for my baby. The last gf he moved in brought roaches.
The new gf he’s been with for a few months is pregnant and i absolutely love babies. All the anger I had towards him almost disappeared because honestly I was excited. But then I hear how he’s been talking about us. It honestly breaks my heart. I’ve know this guy since middle school and we are 21 now. The thing is he won’t just talk to me or my husband to work things out he’s just going to our friends and making us look disgusting. Which is crazy because these same friend are over all the time they see my house it’s not a wreck and it doesn’t stink.
Idk sorry for the long post there is so much more I could talk about but I won’t. I’m just SOOO disappointed and mad.
Am I wrong for being mad? Am I being unreasonable?
