I’m going to be in Houston next week and will be going to see the symphony. This may be a dumb question, but can anyone give some guidance on what is considered “proper” attire?

I ask because I’m in SoCal and pretty much anything goes here. When I go to the symphony in San Diego people wear everything from jeans to formal dress.

So…just hoping for some local advice. I don’t want to insult anyone by dressing too down for the occasion.

Edit: Wow, thanks everyone for the great advice. I think I’ve got an idea of what is expected. It sounds as if things are a little bit more formal than SoCal but not that much.
