My almost 4m babe (16w) has been breastfeeding perfectly fine and taking bottles relatively well when needed. Last night he at bedtime he started getting very upset anytime I would lay him down to try to feed and he wouldn’t calm down unless he’d vertically w his head above my shoulder or my husband held him in football hold (not the bf hold). My husband eventually was able to give him 9oz of pumped milk from a bottle and he was happy as a clam after. Breastfed fine that night and the next day (today) all day. I fed him a little early before bed to make sure he wasn’t overtired/hungry. He seemed like he was starting to get agitated again but ended up feeding fine and going to sleep. Woke up at 11:30 (which is earlier than usual) and escalated to very upset very quickly and again wouldn’t feed. Eventually took 4 oz in a bottle but after I refilled it he still seemed hungry (crying) but kept pushing the bottle out of his mouth. Eventually got him calm enough to breastfeed and back to sleep.
I initially thought he might have caught the stomach bug my older child had last Friday but then feeding normally and acting happy during the day made me rethink that.
Another wrench is that I’m supposed to go out of town Sat morn - Monday afternoon but feeling like I should cancel if this happens again tomorrow (Friday).
Any ideas? 4 month regression?
