Going from Secret to Critical Sensitive/High Risk
I'm currently active duty military medically retiring in June, and I applied for and got a civilian role that requires a Critical Sensitive/High Risk clearance which is a Tier 5 investigation (the cso said it's a Top Secret) from what I've been told. I did my re-validation for my Secret back in September for the military and re-submitted my SF-86 and fingerprints for it.
I had issues with alcohol and self referred twice (once in 2020 and in 2025) to a one month program due to using it as a coping mechanism (unhealthy) for my PTSD. I can't drink anymore due to my liver being swollen and spleen with lesions, plus it's just not good. Chain of command and CSOs were informed both times. I put that information in my SF-86 in September. December comes around and a DCISA agent contacts me and asks me to fill out medical release forms for the programs i attended and I did. March comes around and my security clearance goes from red to green and I verify with the unit CSO that it's good to go.
Will this affect the clearance im currently going for? Even when a DCISA agent already looked at it and Green lit my current SECRET. If I do get denied is there a way to get the reason? So I can use it to show the VA that my disability prevented me from qualifying for a position in my field and it would qualify me for VR&E through the VA (My MSC told me that would be an easy way to get it lol).
