$0 to $10k mrr in 30 days on $50/day tiktok ads.

someone on X dropped this playbook last week and it's the cleanest ios breakdown i've read this year. no fluff. no mrr theater. just an actual checklist.

posting the 6 steps here in case the thread gets buried. plus the one part i'd swap out and why.

step 1: study what's working

apps worth reverse engineering right now:

>cal ai (food scanning, ~$3m/mo)
umax (face rating, looksmaxxing)
pray screen (faith, prayer lock)

look at the emotion they target. the "aha" moment. how the paywall sits in the flow. take the blueprint. improve the execution. add your own angle.

direct copies get pulled. apple rejects them or the original founder reports you. not worth it.

step 2: sell to a core human desire

the 9 that actually convert:

attractiveness. health. wealth. sex. status. intelligence. identity. fear. belonging.

"am i attractive?" outconverts "am i productive?" every time. nobody is emotionally invested in their to-do list.

viral feature + core desire = $$$.

if you can screen-record someone using your app and capture an "aha" moment in a single visual, you've got something. face ratings, height predictors, food scanners all have that reveal.

step 3: pricing apple approves every time

>$12.99/week
$59.99/year
$44.99/year retention offer (only on the cancellation flow, otherwise apple rejects)

higher than you'd think. but people clicking your ad are emotionally invested. they want the answer to whatever insecurity the ad triggered. they'll pay.

the retention offer is free money most teams leave on the table. every churn you save at $44.99/year is pure profit you would've lost.

step 4: make your ads (this is the part i'd change)

the before/after format. show someone BEFORE using the app, then the result AFTER. the reveal IS the ad. don't "show off your app." people care about the result, not the product.

the original uses ai tools (z-image for faces, face swap to merge ai faces onto your video). it works. but in my tests it underperforms real human reactions by 3-10x on save rate.

viewers can feel the difference between a real face and an ai face in about 2 seconds. ai still converts because the before/after hook is strong on its own. but you leave most of the upside on the table.

what i do instead:

>browse a ugc library of pre-shot reactions and edit in tiktok studio
or order custom ugc at $9/video, delivered already edited in 2 days

10-12 variants either way. real faces only.

disclosure: i run dansugc, the ugc marketplace i source from. plenty of other options out there. you can also film with friends if you want fully free. the point is real humans beat ai in this format. however you get them.

step 5: the ad machine

>tiktok smart+ campaign
optimize for subscribe/purchase events, NOT installs
$50/day starting budget
usa only
run 2-3 days before concluding

you only need ONE winning creative. find it. throw money at it.

step 6: manage your ads

numbers to hit before scaling:

>cpi under $2
ctr over 1%
cpa under ltv

when you hit those: scale +30% every 3 days max. faster and the tiktok pixel breaks.

if you don't hit those: kill the ad. new creative. don't touch campaign settings. creative is almost always the problem.

bonus cheat codes most ios founders miss:

>tiktok matches your first $6k in ad spend (auto-applies on new accounts)
apple's small business program cuts fees 30% to 15%
apple payouts take 45 days. plan cashflow accordingly

the tiktok credit alone refunds your first month of spend. use it.

tldr:

  1. study what works (cal ai, umax, pray screen)
  2. build an improved version
  3. target a core human desire with a viral feature
  4. price $12.99/wk + $59.99/yr + $44.99 retention
  5. 10-12 before/after ad variants with real ugc, not ai
  6. tiktok smart+ at $50/day, usa only
  7. find one winner. scale 30% every 3 days
  8. use the $6k tiktok credit and apple sbp for free distribution

what's the smallest ios app you've shipped that crossed $10k mrr? curious if 30 days is actually repeatable or if the author just got lucky on creative.

first time fasting only drinking water and electrolytes, going for 3 days fingers crossed! was feeling great the first 12 hours then 17h hit and im struggling abit ngl. Only water and electrolytes. No exercise just sat at my desk all day for work.

day 0 187lb 17 hours in and currently questioning my life choices lol

Im 5'5 F. Was 14st 2lb this time last year so been on the journey for a while, just never tried proper fasting before.

honestly didnt expect it to hit this hard. Was feeling smug at hour 12 like "this is easy" and then hour 15 the hunger started rolling in in waves. Now at 17h and:

  • brain fog is real, read the same work email about 4 times and still dont know what it said
  • low key headache behind my eyes
  • snapped at my partner over literally nothing
  • stomach doing the empty rumbly thing every 20 mins on the dot

read on here that 16-24h is meant to be the worst bit before ketones properly kick in so just trying to white knuckle it through tonight.

what im doing so far:

  • pinch of pink salt in my water
  • had a black coffee this morning (mistake?? made it worse?)
  • electrolyte tab around hour 14
  • keeping my hands busy so i dont open the fridge "just to look"

questions for the veterans:

  1. does the hunger actually calm down after 24h or is that just cope
  2. should i be more aggressive with the salt
  3. any tips for the evening, thats my worst time for snacking normally
  4. is brain fog normal or am i underdoing electrolytes

first timer be kind! tell me 3 days is doable

i run dansugc .we sell ugc reaction b-rolls for consumer apps.

knowunity bought 25 b-rolls at $5/video. $125 total.

one instagram post off that batch hit 6m views. 10k installs.

few things worth stealing:

reaction + demo combos are getting flagged as spam.
tiktok and IG seem to know the pattern now. reach drops.

what worked instead:
> app name in the text hook app name in the caption app name in the pinned comment

pinned comment had the highest intent traffic by far.

the math:
>25 b-rolls × $5 = $125 6m views on one post 10k installs

real humans. no AI. no fake faces.

happy to break down the hooks, the format, or how the comment CTA actually worked.
ask anything.
