My beloved pendant
I walked into an old vintage/thrift shop many, many years ago, in my early teens, immediately locked eyes with this guy and fell in love. He’s been very special to me ever since and I’ve always wanted to know more.
I’m pretty sure he’s carved from real wood (I’d love to identify what kind) because most of him is very smooth, but you could definitely get a tiny splinter if you rubbed hard enough around his mouth or nose. There aren’t any hallmarks that I can see.
When I walked into the shop, he was hanging from what I think was a string, on a long clothesline alongside dozens of necklaces. The necklace he’s on now, I already had. Also, the shop owner said he couldn’t remember where he came from, just that he’d been in the shop for quite a while, is very special and seemed to be waiting for me.
