If you have an NTTA TollTag, you probably know you can use it outside of Texas in Oklahoma, Kansas, and most of Colorado and Florida.
Today, I found out the out of state interoperability was massively expanded according to the updated map on the NTTA website.
You can now use your NTTA TollTag in multiple new states including Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, and most of Indiana. All these states are part of the larger EZ-Pass group and I wouldn’t be surprised if the TollTag soon becomes compatible with the entire EZ-Pass network.
A lot of states in the EZ-Pass network are switching to sticker transponders that use a protocol called 6C. The NTTA TollTag also uses 6C and if I were to guess, all the EZ-Pass states are starting to convert their equipment to use 6C so EZ-Pass sticker transponders work across the EZ-Pass network and as that’s happening, I think the TollTag will hopefully become compatible in even more states.
