Relative who knew I was a writer just passed to the other side recently and although they were not well off at all, they left something personal/specific to some of us in their will.
My gift was a camera bag that I have never seen before with some contents in it. I am not a filmmaker, a writer inherently but I have always had that longing to being directing my own shorts with friends now that I can afford it to spend a little money for things. But I never acted on that impulse, but when I was told I had something in their will, I was surprised, not that we weren’t close, quite the contrary, I just knew they didn’t have much so I wasn’t ever expected anything at all.
All that being said I was left these items. I’m wondering if they are even viable to film with or would I be better off just using my iPhone/ buying a new camera when the times come and just keep this for sentimental value. I know they would have liked me to use this stuff though.
Let me everything from is this stuff a good start for a beginner filmmaker to what are these actually used for in practical sense.
