[Loved Trope] A random element from early in the horror media gets weaponized by the monster.

  • Undertone's "I Feel Wonderful": One of the few visual scares of A24's Undertone is a creepy in-universe infrared viral video, which is meant to be an homage to the creepypasta Mereana Mordegard Glesgorv. It has a smiling woman whose face gradually becomes more distorted and twisted, as seen to the left of image 1. Apparently it caused 90 people to commit suicide. At the climax, the video appears on the protagonist's TV, after >!the demon Abyzou has completely distorted her reality!<, and hoo boy. The woman's face is not smiling. It's this crying, horrified look, seen to the right of image 1. It just keeps distorting and becoming worse and worse until her eyes turn completely black and then start bleeding, her jaw only continuing to melt off her face.
  • TADC's Stupid Sauce and Veganism: These are two microcosms of a running trend of Caine putting his cast of rubberbabybuggybumpers into hilarious situations. What a hoot! Look at how stupid they act when they get stupid sauce in their eye! Look at how funny Jax is as a vegan! Look at how funny it is to see Caine get impatient and then just beam the rules of the game into a guy's head...even though Caine himself said he can't alter their minds...except everyone in this circus came in forgetting what their names even are. After they realize this, the dynamic changes entirely, and Caine's malevolence starts becoming abundantly clear. They realize just what Caine is capable of, how much he's taken away from them, and how much further he could go if he wanted.
