Meet Matilda

She was just a few inches wide about 3 weeks ago. She is a Wild Miscovie, living in Coral Springs, Florida. She is the friendliest wee duck I've ever seen. She'll walk right up to me without hesitation and politely ask for food.

She has 2 brothers (1 of which is massive) and 2 sisters that are not quite as brave. Though they do get close just not in arms reach like Super Duck over here.

The adult male you see is a Feral Miscovie from a different flock. He frequents one of our local bus stops.

Some things to know about Muscovies

They don't quack, hey hiss and grunt.

Unlike other species they don't always hiss when you're upset , a nice quiet his and a good tail wag indicates they are perfectly content.

However aggressive head movement accompanied with the hiss is, "I am going to pretend to attack you then run away quickly" 😂

Fun fact

Did you know that the Mallard is the chance seedling, every duck species on the planet has one thing in common, they're all ancestorally (Ik that's not a word) related to the Mallard.
