I’m primarily a smallmouth fisherman, but going to kayak for stripers soon. I have my surf gear and plan on using my Okuma SST 9’9” heavy that can chuck 1/2-3oz easily. Also have an Okuma Epixor xt40s reel with 30lb braid. Use this combo for surf fishing lures mostly.

I also own a quantum smoke s3 I plan on spooling with 40 or 50lb braid. Just need a rod that can cast 1-3oz. What is a decent rod to throw this on that won’t break the bank? Not familiar with baitcasting salt rods. Most the insure stuff I find, a MH is slightly heavier than a bass MH rod.

Really don’t want to break out my 10’ 6500 spinfisher lol. Also feel that the 9’9” is a bit large to throw from a kayak as well.
