Is the job market in Hong Kong this cooked??

As an expat I’ve been applying for months and either get rejected for being too junior for ENTRY-level roles that somehow require atleast 2 years of experience, or I need native-level Cantonese. And the ones that do come with offers end up being sales jobs (selling insurance/services) when the listing said something completely different 😭

I am a recent grad with a Master’s in Chemical Engineering from HKU and i can speak mandarin quite well and just about finishing up an internship at a VC firm as an investment analyst. Looking for a new role now because my current firm wants me to do another 6 months as an intern before even considering full-time and even then the pay is basically the lowest of the low, so it’s just not financially feasible for me.

Ive also been networking by going to a lot of VC/PE forums and the lot of them offer to help me find a job but after contacting them they r no help at all.

Anyone have any tips? Ive been applying for any type of role on linkedin, jobsdb, indeed, glassdoor and on company websites but no luck so far. Ive also asked headhunters who r helping but no luck either. Its a shame because I really like Hong Kong😔
