Some Cholesterol Friendly Meals I've Made
I'm 33 with recent LDL of 180 and Tris of 180. I wouldn't say my diet is horrible but i did eat out a lot (socially w/ friends or gf, out of laziness, when I was dating) and after some research, yeah I think a combo of not enough fiber and high saturated fat contributed to it when I eat out. Plus I love carbs like breads and pastries and noodles so that likely contributed to Tris (though they were 206 before so it lowering is good).
Luckily i've been a good cook for a while but would often be lazy and order out. And I heavily always favored or loved the Mediterranean Diet. Mostly the Levant or the Spain side. So the last month i've made changes...cooking way more, adding a lot more fiber such as psyllium husk and oats, not using butter at home, trying to make better choices when i eat out (sirloin steak w/ baked sweet potato instead of ribeye with french fries), limiting red meat to once a week max, if i do eat cheese such as pizza I'll stick to more of the plain slices or tomato heavy ones, less pastry desserts (indulged due to my bday this month), drip coffee instead of espresso, more veggies. Hopefully my next test shows improvement otherwise I will deff take the statins and maybe will need to go more draconian.
Anyway wanted to show some recipes i've done to give some inspiration. I do use a good amount of olive oil and still use parmesan in recipes so obvs you can lower the amount or substitute/eliminate.
