Hi, I really need help with this. 5 years ago, I drained and cleaned the pool for the first time after buying our home in 2020. I called and got our local pool supply/installation company to come out and give us a quote for resurfacing. The quote came out to over $7K for a small 6,500 gallon pool and I was floored. They said it really didn’t need a full resurface yet and we could hold off for a while. Fast forward to today where I have drained the pool again (see pictures) and realized it’s gotten so much worse. I know it needs the full resurface now but, with inflation, I’m estimating closer to $9-10K which we don’t have. (I also attempted to fix the pool light with the first draining but it kicks the breaker every time I turn it on. That is probably a lost cause and not top priority as the surfacing is.)
What are your recommendations on patching supplies/plaster/paint so that I don’t have to take out a loan to fix this? I know this is my fault that the pool got to the way it was and I’m sure the algae growth and overall chemistry ate away at the walls faster than normal. I developed severe, autoimmune arthritis in my wrists shortly after the first drain which made cleaning difficult and it took until roughly 2024 to get my husband involved in pool maintenance after trying to do it all myself and worsening my condition.
I have small kids that can’t wait to go swimming. Please help.
