Since I’ve started binging invincible season 1-4 I’ve been noticing the similarities in Steven universe and invincible and not talking about them is eating away at me.
The first one I’ve noticed is with Nolan and Rose/Pink(kinda the most common I see people talking about).
Rose and Nolan have similar backstories with both of them coming from their alien home worlds to spread across the galaxy conquering planets for their empires. With both of them growing up in toxic environments Nolan having to fight his parents to the death and Pink being put down and locked away by the other diamonds
Both gems and Viltrumites take everything from the planets until the beings inhabiting have both left. And they both look down on other species (mainly humans) going as far keeping them as pets.
Steven and Mark both have to face with problems that are because of their parents. Rose chose to leave her problems behind for her son to face. Nolan was ready to stay imprisoned and executed for what he did full knowing his son would have to face consequences.
After Marks fight with conquest (invin s4ep1) eve’s dad… Made mark feel personally at fault for eve almost dying in (and after) the invincible war. Steven after jail break has a talk with Renaldo… and feel responsible for Connie . Steven going a step further than mark trying to avoid her for the rest of the episode. (Steven U s2ep1)
Mark and Steven both are seen having traumatic flashbacks in the show with Steven remembering all the times he almost died and mark MOSTLY seeing the invincible war. (Steven u future)(S4 ep1)
Lastly, cause I can keep going but won’t are mark and Steven are both the first hybrids of their species. Mark half Viltrumite and half human. And Steven half diamond and half human. (I don’t know if they showed other viltrumite hybrids except for Oliver but ik he isn’t pure blood.)
I’m kinda curious if anyone else has also noticed anything or if I’m like making some HUGE STRETCHES. I know the comics came first so I wonder if any of the Steven universe animators were fans of the invincible comics. Also sorry for spelling mistakes or excessive yapping. (Im only on the 2nd ep of season 4 😭)
