I recently took a permit to carry class and plan to submit my paperwork to get the permit. While I do not plan to currently purchase a gun, I got the permit so I have an extra layer of protection as an option for myself.
In my state, I have to fill out additional paperwork to get the permit. One of the questions they ask is to name noticeable features- including tattoos/ scars. Ideally I would not to give the government of my tattoos and scars so they can identify me from any protests or actions I have taken in the past or might take in the future. I live in a place that is known for its violence from law enforcement. This is causing me to feel conflicted and I'm questioning if to even follow through with my permit to carry. I would love to hear other people's thoughts or experiences.
