I have lived through several administrations and understand that there are political regimes that come and go. I am seeing something in this current regime that is different than the first four years. I wanted to get pulse on whether others are seeing this too.
There’s an administrative department in Washington, “the grand dame”, that has a Secretary’s floor that feels completely different from everywhere else in the building. The second you step onto the floor, the energy shifts and conversations stop, people look at you in a way that is uncomfortable. Like they know you don’t belong there. I wouldn’t even say it’s subtle. You can feel it.
It reminds me of that movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers where nothing is obviously wrong, but you can tell immediately that you’re not one of them. And they know you aren’t one of them.
Also, the aesthetic. The women often dress provocatively. Not necessarily Mar-a-Lago style, more like going out to the club and getting bottle service. I am almost embarrassed for them. Younger staff, few over 30, especially the women. It is very frat house feel.
Curious if anyone else has experienced something like that in your administrative office in D.C.
