A soft boy with his lyre (OC)
Hi! I wanted to draw something softer this time, I was experimenting with using only soft colors, what do you think? Anyway lately I've been drawing a lot of classical boys bc I really like the aesthetic c:

I feel like it looks off somehow, am I overthinking? I'm trying to improve as much as possible. This time I tried new things to create a more painterly rendering and for the background to look more natural (the background is a 3D render originally). But still I can't help but think that something is off. I'm always thinking that the way I draw characters is very imperfect, something about his face, idk.
I modeled most of the 3D background myself, rendered it, and then added lineart on top. For the character, I used a 3D posable doll as reference. The lighting was also drawn following my 3D reference. I'm going for a hand-drawn look. If you zoom in, you might notice crosshatching and some watercolor textures... but perhaps it's not too noticeable.
I'm very grateful for any critique.
I thought these two illustrations were similar, so I wanted to share!
2 years of drawing pretty boys.
Critique is very welcome!
I made this illustration more than a year ago, but it's still one of my favorites! I wanted to share here too.
I love classic shoujo art. This is a redraw of my favorite cover of what is the OG BL Magazine, called Comic June, drawn originally by the amazing Keiko Takemiya. I own some issues and I love them because they're filled with beautiful boys :3
