Admin Assistant jobs?
Out of curiosity, where are all of the Admin Assistants going here in the Des Moines area when they leave the field?
I work full time, year round for a local school district and the pay just isn't cutting it anymore. I've asked for a raise, gave great information and did research on what other districts around us are paying (all of them 2-4 dollars more starting than my current district) and was still denied a fair raise and told maybe next year.
I've applied at other districts, had interviews, and then received emails stating they've hired internally. I've applied for similar positions with the state, receive an email stating my application is moving to the next step, and then never hear anything again.
It definitely feels like Admin Assistant Positions in the education field and just in general, are super competitive and hard to get.
So where is everyone going when they decide to no longer be an Admin Assistant and leave that field entirely? It doesn't seem like my skill set transfers over to other positions, much less the higher paying ones.
