No real deep symbolism. I just tried to keep the yellow and blue as prominent features. You could make the argument that the three white stripes represent the the Jefferson, Madison, and Gallatin rivers approaching the confluence, but that wasn't intentional (and if this were the case you should switch the white and blue, which I think looks worse anyways).
