Music Can Make You Relapse
I don’t see this get talked about nearly enough. Music is so powerful because it can literally alter your brain chemistry and structure. The music we listen to has the ability to shift our emotions, change our levels of stress, and increase our spirituality.
However, the truth is that the vast majority of music in the mainstream is poison. It’s so difficult to find songs that aren’t sexually charged, violent, or derogatory. And it seems like most people brush this off as normal and that it’s no different from the movies we watch or the video games we play.
But when it comes to semen retention, mainstream music can play a big role in whether or not you relapse down the road. Music as a whole is already one of the most dopamine-fueled things you can engage in, and if your go-to songs have sexual innuendos and a big thumping beat, that’s only going to fuel your fire.
Genres like ambient and classical have been great for my nervous system and it’s kept me grounded. Unfortunately those genres are way out of the mainstream, so it makes it hard for me to find good songs and playlists. Whether this is by design or not, the vast majority of mainstream music has sucked for a long time and it’s the equivalent of junk food for the ears.
