Hello everyone, I’m new in Germany and probably need more help than I thought.
Back in Italy, I used to have a fiber connection with OpenFiber and a random provider. The fiber cable was connected to OpenFiber ONT and from there an ethernet cable to my FritzBox router.
Here I have purchased a Cable connection (which I didn’t even know existed) with Vodafone and I just bought a refurnished FritzBox 6660 Cable. After its arrival, I discovered that Vodafone needs to activate it using the MAC address and serial number, but I’m having some difficulties. So I wonder if:
- all the 6660 “Artikel-Nummer” are suitable (I’m reading somewhere that only some of them are)
- it would be an issue if the previous owner had a cable contract with Vodafone
A new Fritz Cable can be a little expensive and I’ll do my math to see if it’s better to rent it with Vodafone. But I’m also curious if something similar to ONT exists for Cable connection (so something that has Cable as input and LAN in output). In such case I can even use the same Fritz I have (and not necessarily a Cable one) and it would be cheaper… but overall (considering the ONT-similar device as well) would that be cheaper than a new Fritzbox Cable or renting?
