Hi all,

I recently received support from a tax consultant for filing back taxes - and noticed that they also filed Form 8960 (net investment income tax). As my status hasn't changed for 2025, I'm attempting to follow the way the previous years were reported.

I'm surprised that this 3.8% tax isn't covered by any tax treaty - especially because I'm living in a high tax country (Germany). Are others here also filling out Form 8960? I haven't yet see this come up as a topic on the subreddit.

My situation:

- I'm MFS

- I live in Germany

- I've been using the FTC, not FEIE

- With the 2025 US / EUR exchange rate, my MAGI is above the MFS limit - but this is largely from earned wages (not investment income - if this makes any difference).
