I was a student 8ish years ago but all accommodations are permanent at the university I attend so I don’t have to provide new documentation unless it’s for something new (yay!). I have almost everything I need for ADHD already and I have approved absences from when my PTSD was really bad (big hurdles out of the way).
The part they’re fighting me on is guaranteed accessible seating.
I can’t go up the stairs without a handrail due to my dysautonomia and the HR spike that happens. I know lecture halls have reserved seating for handicapped students but I also know non-handicapped students will take those seats to be close to friends, the door, have more space, etc.
My PCP already submitted the requested information in letter format and where I’m at your PCP manages dysautonomia so I don’t have other specialists to provide information from. I currently use a walking stick as needed for pain and balance but that’s only long distance and/or rough days. I already had to give up my dream career and degree because of HSD and all the comorbidities; I don’t want to completely be blocked out of getting a degree by my condition. Since the accommodations office is refusing to guarantee that I’ll have a safe seat in lecture halls what other options do I have?

Edit to add: I’m also a full time employee of the University and I do my best not to use my mobility aids in front of my students and coworkers. I have a couple zebra stickers on my items and will talk about invisible disability with people if the topic comes up, but I try to blend in as much as possible. I don’t have any official workplace accommodations at this time as I have a very flexible position and supervisor.
