I have Aliens of Charted Space Vol. 1, and I'm trying to make sure I understand the creation of Aslan player characters. There's a couple of things that I think I have a grip on, but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

First, am I understanding correctly that once an Aslan PC fails a qualification roll or otherwise ends up in the Outcast career, there's no way back into the good graces of Aslan society except some rare events? The PC is stuck with Outcast, Outlaw, or leaving Aslan space to try their luck with the Core Rulebook careers? If so, this strongly disincentivizes trying for the careers that require high rolls unless the PC does well on the Rite of Passage!

Second, it looks like the only way to gain a decent Territory (TER) score is to get lucky on the birth order roll and inherit it as a first son. Is this correct? Yes, there are events that will give little bits of TER, but not much. And yes, you can trade Clan Shares for land, but you've got to have SOC 9 or better to do that, and roll Clan Shares in the first place. Will most second and third sons come out of character creation landless? Hmm, it would explain why they're out adventuring instead of staying at home.

Anyway, thanks for your input!
