Three years ago, I thought I had an ear infection, but I felt pressure in my left ear that I just couldn’t “pop.” Around that time, I also noticed a change in my eyesight and had episodes where I felt drunk.
Since then, I’ve had a chronic whooshing sound (like rumbling?) when I move my head or even my eyes. I sometimes hear a rubbing noise (like rubbing a balloon) in my left ear. The left side of my neck and shoulder is always tight or painful. I can also hear my heartbeat in my left ear when I tilt my head to the right. I don’t have any lingering eye symptoms.
I’ve had a brain MRI, seen an ENT, and tried allergy medications, steroids, neti pots, massages, acupuncture, and dry needling. No answers. I came across the TMD subreddit and thought maybe that was it, until I found posts about “whooshers,” which I seem to relate to more.
