So I had my first interaction with astral projection without even wanting it necessarily, because I was kind of scared, but I went down a rabbit hole about it yesterday and I guess it just stayed on my mind.

The experience went like this: I took an afternoon nap today and started dreaming — just some random dream. Two of my friends were there, and after a little while I started feeling like I was rising and floating (nothing new, I always fly in dreams and they’ve become kind of lucid). Right after I realized it was a dream, I felt like I was rising more and more, and I instantly came back to my body, but my eyes were closed and I didn’t move. I still felt like I was dreaming, but the floating sensation kept getting stronger, and it felt like I was literally vibrating higher and higher — like the tingling in my hands, feet, and knees was somehow getting faster. At that point I realized this could be the moment before astral projection, so I flexed my arms and legs to wake myself up, and I did.

After that, I realized that while I was in that state, I wasn’t feeling fear at all — actually, it felt really good in a way I can’t really describe. So I thought that if it happened again, I would just go with it, and that’s what I did.

I took another nap right after, and I started dreaming again, but it was a very short, visual-like dream. I can’t really remember it — it felt like it lasted maybe two seconds at most — and then I came right back to my body with my eyes closed. I started focusing on my breathing. I could hear everything from outside and hear my breathing as well, and again I felt like I was rising. At one point I tried to lift myself out of my body, but it didn’t work, and I thought maybe I was rushing it. So I just let it happen and focused on breathing and “getting out” slowly.

After that, I remember being “thrown” upward out of my body and kind of going through the ceiling and partly through the wall, if that makes sense. It was a little hard to control my body, but I was still floating. Then I looked around my room, saw myself in bed, still heard the noises coming from outside the window, and could hear my breathing too. I just looked around the room and thought, “Yeah, that’s enough,” and twitched my body again so I would wake up. After I woke up i felt exhausted and a strange feeling, I still feel weird writing and thinking about it.

I don’t know if I was really astral projecting or just dreaming about astral projection, if that makes sense. What do you all think? Should I try it again?

(Just to mention: I used to try this when I was younger too, and I lucid dreamed a lot — almost every dream — and got sleep paralysis a couple of times before I stopped trying. I was around 15 back then, and I’m 25 now.)

Edit: I just remembered I was also hearing a deep sound in my left ear when I stopped and my body was still asleep, like when you “flex” your ears (if it makes sense) but I was also hearing outside noises through it, and the noise kept “rising” in frequency as well.
