I’m 3 weeks post op (I&D) for a large abscess, I’m no longer packing the wound so my wound care is all on me now. I’ve noticed 2 things.
In the beginning, there was just the hole. Like the open wound that was packed which made sense. Two days later it appears there is like an incision line extending from the wound towards my bh. Is this normal? Is it just now occurring because it is developing scar tissue? I’m absolutely terrified of a fistula but I don’t think it would look like this either? Just want to see if that’s normal.
Also, I’m a female and have been on three different antibiotics so, as you can imagine, I’ve had a very uncomfortable and persistent yeast infection since. Due to the injury, they just keep giving me the oral treatment but I am on my second pill and still suffering. I’m also already taking probiotics that I researched and used prior. What can I do? I don’t think I can use Monistat due to the open wound. This piece of the healing is making this whole situation ten times worse. Just wondering if I’m alone in that detail and what others did. Even if it’s just hearing you eventually got through it in the end.
