hi! i’m making my second ever knitting project and the first one with just a written pattern, no video tutorial. it is the miu top and i just got to the section where im supposed to be splitting off armholes. so i did everything the pattern says (knit 126 and then placed 126 on hold on a piece of yarn) but idk what to do now? do i just sort of keep working in the round over this green piece of yarn? the pattern says i will be working flat now (knit and purl) but i don’t see how since for me this still seems to be in the round?

please explain to me (like i’m a child) where exactly i go from here and which direction to keep knitting in. i feel a little stupid and confused, pls be kind!
