Today while I was driving down the main road in my town I accidentally hit something with my side view mirror on the passenger side. I didn’t see what it was at first and had to turn and go around the block to find a safe place to pull over and park. I was having difficulty finding a spot so I had to go back around the block a second time. I probably shouldn’t have done this, but I have a truck and can’t always find a space to fit it into. That street and area stay fairly busy and it can be hard to park there sometimes.

When I came around a second time I was able to find a spot to park and pulled over. Unfortunately, both of the vehicles that were there were already gone. I wasn’t sure what I had even hit. I believe it was either a side mirror or a bike rack. Since I wasn’t sure what to do next I called the non emergency police line and reported the incident to them. They took my information and said that they’d give me a call if someone reached out to them about this.

But now I’m worried, would this be considered a hit and run? That was absolutely not my intention at all.

Hi everyone, today I had a very close call with an off leash dog. I was walking my client’s two dogs (both blue heeler mixes, very good on the leash) and this random dog comes out of nowhere and starts charging over to us. I tried to turn around and get away, but it was too late. The dog was already right next to us and trying to start shit. This dog had its hackles raised and tail straight up. I’m honestly not sure if it was growling or not because I was yelling no and stomping. It did not seem friendly at all though. It completely ignored me as I yelled and stomped at it. It got right up in one of the dog’s faces and an altercation almost happened right there between the two dogs.

Thankfully, there was a man outside in his yard who came over and was able to scare the off leash dog away before the situation escalated further.

The owner of the dog then comes walking down the sidewalk calling her dog’s name. It went running back to her and she hurried off with the dog after that. I immediately got my client’s dog’s back home.

I did end up calling animal control, but since it is run by our city’s municipal shelter (and they are closed today) it redirected me to dispatch. I felt like that wasn’t really necessary since nothing actually happened, but I wanted to see if I could make a report anyways. Unfortunately, the gal had to hang up on me because a 911 call came through (totally understandable). I don’t know if I should try to call back now or just wait until Monday and see if I can make a report then? What would you all do?

The owners are out of cell phone reception right now, but they should be getting it back later this afternoon and I will inform them of the situation.

This is also a reminder for everyone to carry pet corrector with you at all times. I unfortunately did not have mine on me, which was a mistake on my part.

I don’t normally have to deal with situations like this (thankfully), but every now and then an off leash dog may try to start something. How would you all handle this situation? Any tips for me for the future?

Hi everyone, I pet sit and do daily dog walking during the weekdays.

Here recently, I’ve had a lot of dogs try to eat random things off the ground while we’re out! Even with dogs I’ve been walking for a while who don’t normally do that stuff.

Yesterday, I was walking one of my regulars and she found something on the ground and scarfed it down real fast. I told her to drop it, but she did not. She’s never done that before so I was quite shocked!

One of my other regulars tried to eat something off the ground on Monday. Thankfully, I was able to pull it out of his mouth before he could swallow it. He never does this either.

And today, one of my pet sitting clients ate something from the ground too! It’s just been a crazy week with dogs doing this for some reason.

Of course, I notified all of the owners immediately.

What crazy experiences have you all had recently?
