I started using this Pinecil V2 about a month ago (end of March) and the tip decided to kick the bucket. I had been using it properly with the screw fully tightened, tip only up to about 630F. It was about a month of on and off work, a project or two fully soldered.
About a week ago, I noticed the temperature readout had started being erratic, often immediately telling me the tip was about 200 or 250 right when it started heating. The display would flicker wildly with wrong current temps.
When I got this error display, I removed the tip and measured resistance between the two contact rings, about 20MΩ. The lowest reading I got between any of the three contacts was about 16MΩ. Maybe I got a random bad one? I really don't know.
I have no replacements currently, and I'd like to get a few in case this happens again. Can I have recommendations on good quality tips that'll last a lot longer? I really only want conical tips as they're all that I use. Thanks in advance.
