A troll has been targeting AoT writers *relentlessly* for months. They started with hate comments, then started creating fake puppet accounts impersonating writers (me included) and used them to leave more gate comments to other writers of other ships to fuel ship wars. Then created bookmarks where they accused writers of writing with ai and of impersonating other writers (lol, I know, very ironic). But a few days ago they crossed the line.
Five days ago I woke up to my phone blowing up. Death threats and insane accusations on my ao3, my strawpage and mostly my personal twitter account. I initially thought I attracted a swarm of antis because the day before I tweeted about the situation in the Pitt fandom in favour of the writer being harassed for headcanoning a character as bi instead of a lesbian. The hate comments were accusing me of being lesbophobic so I thought that tweet could be the reason why. I went private on twitter and blocked all of the people spewing accusations and moved on.
Then I found out it all started because this troll saw my tweet and decided to post anonymously an ai generated fic purposely mistagged where a lesbian gets raped. They linked my twitter account in the author's notes along with some provocative bullshit. Someone screenshotted the ao3 note and posted it on twitter and it went viral. The post author didn't tag me but kept telling people my twitter username, so that's why I kept getting death threats even after the fic was deleted (I never saw it because it all happened in the middle of the night in my time zone). Mind you, I've never even seen the show.
The amount of hate was a lot to handle. I'm in a good place mentally so it didn't affect me as badly as it could have but this could have ended in a much more dramatic way if someone else got this treatment in my place. So I'm writing this post in hope this gets as viral as possible because this account has evidence: look at my post history and comment history and you'll see me talking about being impersonated and you'll see the troll replying to my comments with multiple accounts. I don't care if they find this, I will abandon this account once word gets out there of what's happening.
I'm aware that a lot of antis don't care about evidence (just two apologised after the viral post author on twitter publicly apologised) but I do hope that by doing this I can scale down the hate for whoever is next. I know this gives them attention and I know that's all they want, but I still think this is the right thing to do considering the escalation patter.
